The Vision Behind the Campaign

Jessica's vision for Duplin County is rooted in her deep connection to the community. Growing up in a small town, she witnessed firsthand the struggles and triumphs of her neighbors. This background has shaped her understanding of the issues that matter most to the residents.

Key Issues Addressed

  1. Education: As a former Teacher's Assistant and with her bachelor's degree in education - Jessica believes that quality education is the cornerstone of a thriving community. Although the Board of Education handles these issues the Duplin County Board of Commissioners still has quite a say in the Duplin County education system. Her campaign focuses on improving all local schools and advocating for better resources to ensure our teachers are supported and to help improve student experiences and outcomes.

  2. Healthcare: Access to healthcare is another critical issue. Jessica aims to work to preserve public health in Duplin County. Through this she plans to ensure that all residents, regardless of income or insurance status, can receive the quality care they need right here at home.

  3. Economic Development: Jessica understands that a strong economy is vital for the community's growth. Her campaign will work to promote local businesses, seek to attract new industries to Duplin County, and she will work to expand infrastructure to help her community grow in a healthy way.

  4. Environmental Sustainability: With a commitment to preserving the natural beauty of Duplin County, Jessica advocates for sustainable practices that protect the environment.

  5. Public Safety: Public safety is deeply personal to Jessica. She is a former first responder, and her husband and his family have served as volunteer firefighters for generations. She has seen the sacrifices up close—not only by those who answer the call, but by the families who support them every day. First responders deserve to be fully supported, fully funded, respected, and properly equipped to do their jobs safely—no exceptions.

  6. Duplin County Employees: As a former county employee herself, Jessica understands the plight of the boots on the ground. You can rest assured that Jessica will listen to employee concerns and will make every effort to ensure that their concerns are addressed.

  7. Taxpayers: The burden of funding out county lies on property owners alone. When the property re-evaluations increased astronomically the citizens were blind-sided. While markets do fluctuate and funds are obviously needed to run the local government Jessica will ensure that honesty comes first. She knows that people just want to be leveled with. Therefore, you will not have to rely on a Facebook status telling you to "not panic" or "stay informed". She'll do her best to explain the process, so each taxpayer has all of the facts.

  8. Accountability and Transparency: Accountability and transparency have been central to Jessica’s work in Duplin County over the past several months. She has consistently advocated for open government, responsible use of public funds, and clear communication between county leadership and the public. Through public records requests, meeting attendance, and direct engagement with residents and officials, Jessica has worked to ensure that decisions affecting Duplin County families are made in the open—not behind closed doors. Her efforts are rooted in the belief that trust in local government is built through honesty, accessibility, and accountability to the people it serves.

  9. Unity: Jessica believes that meaningful change in Duplin County only happens when people work together. She understands that no single person, party, or group has all the answers—and that real progress requires listening, collaboration, and shared responsibility. Jessica’s approach is rooted in the belief that unity does not mean agreement on everything; it means showing up, respecting different perspectives, and committing to the common good. Changing the game in Duplin County will take all of us—neighbors, leaders, and community members—working side by side.
